Only Truth will Benefit on The Day of Resurrection
After listening to what Prophet Eesa [Jesus] aalyhi salaam has to say on his behalf, Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala gives a reply. He says,
“Allah will say: This is a Day on which the truthful will profit from their truth: Theirs are Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise) — they shall abide therein forever. Allah is pleased with them and they with Him. That is the great success. To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is therein, and He is able to do all things.”
Commenting on the statement, “This is a Day on which the truthful will profit…” Ibn Abbas radhiAllahu anhu said, “This is the Day when Tawheed will benefit those who believed in it.”
Saddiqeen are those who have sidq in their words, actions and beliefs i.e. their belief is in accordance to reality; they are true and not false. And there is no contradiction between their words and actions. If we are not truthful in dunya, how can we be truthful in the Hereafter?
These people will forever live in Jannah and they will never be removed from it. Allah will be pleased with them, and they will be pleased with Him. This is the greatest blessing that anybody can have. When is a person pleased with a slave? When a servant is truthful. When he is a believer.
What is the sign that Allah is pleased with a person? One sign is that a person is given the opportunity to do good deeds. For example, a lot of people hear the Adhaan [the call to prayer] but how many among them pray? There are many people who want to go for Hajj, but only a few chosen ones are invited by the Lord. This is sign that Allah is happy with them. Another sign is being blessed with the company of righteous people. When a person is in righteous company he will come closer to Allah. Similarly, a person is given the tawfeeq to understand deen.
Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is the One Who created everything, owns everything, controls the affairs of everything and is able to do all things. Therefore, everything and everyone are in His domain and under His power and will. There is none like Him, nor is there rival, ancestor, son, or wife for Him, nor a lord or god besides Him.
– We learn the importance of sidq – speaking and living by the truth because it is what is going to benefit us in the Hereafter. Righteousness leads to Jannah.
– The real success is being pleased with Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala and not wealth or status. It doesn’t matter how much wealth a person accumulates if Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is not pleased with him. The Companions of Rasoolullah salAllahu aalyhi wa sallam won this status in dunya therefore we write/say “radhiAllahu anhu” [may Allah be pleased with them] each time their name is mentioned.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala give us the tawfeeq to be of the sadiqeen and to be pleased with Him and His qadr [decree] so that He is pleased with us, aameen.
